2025 Honda Civic

A grey 2025 Honda Civic Sport is angled left.

Honda is an example of a manufacturer whose vehicles can be found on roads around the world, with millions of drivers from all walks of life choosing to put their trust in models like the Civic. If you drive a Honda, you know about the high levels of reliability and the genuinely enjoyable driving experience found in its lineup. Honda’s sedans, in particular, are one of the highlights of the lineup, offering comfort and efficiency.

The 2025 Honda Civic is an excellent example of this. Many details make the 2025 Civic a must-buy for sedan shoppers, including powertrain options that are both strong and fuel-efficient, a comprehensive collection of Honda Sensing safety technologies, a comfortable and easy-to-maneuver ride, and more. The Civic has a lengthy history dating back to the 1970s, making it the longest-running nameplate in Honda’s lineup, even pre-dating Honda’s midsize sedan, the Honda Accord. The 2025 Civic and each of its trims is everything you’d want it to be.

Performance

Powertrain Options

The 2025 Honda Civic is fitted with an I-4 engine, regardless of the trim you purchase. However, each of the available powertrains is unique in how it performs. The stock powertrain is a 2.0L I-4 engine with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive. The 2.0L I-4 engine is responsible for 150 hp and 133 lb-ft of torque and provides the 2025 Civic’s EPA-estimated ratings of 32 MPG in the city and 41 MPG on the highway, for 36 MPG combined.[b] Compared to the 2024 Civic, the 2025 model provides one extra mile per gallon in each of the three categories.

Returning for the 2025 model year is the Civic Si. The Civic Si has always been a sportier and more lavish version in function and form––the red accents of the interior are anything but bland. The 2025 Civic Si is no exception to its sporty nature with its exceptional use of a turbocharged 1.5L I-4 engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. There’s no automatic transmission available for the Si version, meaning the 2025 Civic Si is a car marketed toward those looking for a manual transmission vehicle. With the turbocharged 1.5L I-4 engine, the 2025 Civic Si outputs 200 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque––33% more horsepower and 44% more torque than the base 2.0L I-4 engine.

The New Civic Hybrid

As impressive as the 2025 Civic Si’s powertrain is, the new Civic Hybrid is the most performant Civic and the most efficient. The Civic Hybrid is the perfect choice for commuters, environmentally-friendly drivers, or those who are fed up with fluctuating gas prices and wish to minimize gas station trips to save money and time. A 2.0L I-4 engine meets hybrid components like a motor and battery to output 200 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque––the former matches the Civic Si’s output, while the latter provides a 21% increase over the Civic Si. Compared to the standard 2.0L I-4 engine without hybrid components, the Civic Hybrid pushes forth 74% more torque, showing a mighty difference.

Aside from its performance, the 2025 Civic Hybrid’s strongest appeal is its efficiency. Hybrids benefit from advanced tech, like regenerative braking, which captures the energy that is normally lost when braking, simultaneously slowing down the car and recharging the battery. The 2.0L I-4 hybrid powertrain in the 2025 Civic achieves EPA-estimated ratings of 50 MPG in the city, 47 MPG on the highway, and 49 MPG combined.[b]

Dimensions

Compact but Comfortable

The 2025 Civic is 184 inches long, 55.7 inches tall, and 70.9 inches wide. Your wheels will either be 16 or 18 inches, with the former coming standard with the LX and the latter standard with the other trims. For a compact sedan, the 2025 Civic feels suitably sized, with easy handling in tight spaces, while being wide and tall enough not to compromise the cabin size.

Every 2025 Civic trim has a passenger volume of 99 cu.ft. In the trunk, Honda has fitted the 2025 Civic with a deep cargo area––14.8 cu.ft. of cargo space comes standard. The size of the interior is impressive for a compact sedan, with plenty of head and legroom that won’t leave you feeling cramped after adjusting your seat to no avail like in some other smaller vehicles.

The interior dimensions don’t change an inch between the trims, meaning the front row of every 2025 Civic has 39.3 inches of headroom, 42.3 inches of legroom, 54.3 inches of hip room, and 57 inches of shoulder room. Similarly, every 2025 Civic has 37.1 inches of rear headroom and 37.4 inches of rear legroom, followed by 48.9 inches of rear hip room and 56 inches of rear shoulder room.

Safety

Honda Sensing

The 2025 Civic is dressed to impress with excellent driver-assist features Honda has selected to craft an impressive compact sedan. Honda Sensing comes standard with every 2025 Civic, meaning every trim has at least 10 advanced safety features––even the base LX––with the Sport Hybrid adding one more to the mix and the Sport Touring Hybrid adding another three, meaning the top-end 2025 Civic trim gets you 14 advanced safety features as part of the Honda Sensing technologies.

Standard with every 2025 Civic trim is the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) and the Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM.) CMBS being standard across the board is great because it means more drivers can access automatic braking in emergencies, like if you’re accidentally quickly approaching a vehicle at an intersection. With RDM, along with standard features like the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW), your 2025 Civic will assist in maintaining a centered placement in your lane, warning you of any unintentional drifting and applying slight braking pressure and steering corrections.

Honda Sensing brings Forward Collision Warning (FCW) to the base 2025 Civic, which automatically activates before CMBS kicks in. The FCW system in your 2025 Civic should be a sufficient attention-grabber to direct your attention to the road. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is standard on every 2025 Civic, meaning you’ll set your speed once, and your Civic will slow down and speed back up depending on the current traffic flow. Auto High-Beam Headlights are standard with each trim, so you’ll never worry about blinding oncoming traffic because your 2025 Civic will actively avoid it but will turn the high beams on again when the road is clear.

Innovative Technologies

A Traffic Sign Recognition System (TSR) is equipped on every 2025 Civic, scanning road signs as you’re driving and relaying the information on your dashboard near your speedometer, so you’ll never unintentionally speed again because you’ll always know the speed limit of the road you’re driving. Honda also includes a Driver Attention Monitor with the 2025 Civic. If you're driving in a manner that suggests you’re tired and unable to pay attention to the road, the 2025 Civic has a system in place to inform you that your fatigue is hindering your driving.

The Sport Hybrid has everything the LX and Sport trims have but with the addition of a Blind Spot Information System (BSI). Side view mirrors don’t display the aptly named blindspots of your car, so BSI involves tech that senses vehicles you otherwise would have to look over your shoulder to notice. If you see the logo illuminated, something is in your blindspot, but it’s best to combine the BSI with your traditional over-shoulder checks before changing lanes.

The Sport Touring Hybrid includes every feature, including the BSI. A Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM), Low-Speed Braking Control, and front and rear Parking Sensors also come standard to complete the collection of 14 Honda Sensing technologies. CTM detects whether a vehicle is approaching from either the left or right when you are in reverse, so you’ll know when to step on the brakes and when it’s clear to proceed.

Low-Speed Braking Control detects objects ahead of and behind your vehicle and stops your car if you’re too close. However, as the name suggests, Low-Speed Braking Control is designed to work while driving at lower speeds. The sensors that make Low-Speed Braking Control possible also serve the purpose of helping you park your car thanks to the installed front and rear Parking Sensors.
