Power & Capability

A Dependable Powertrain

This year, the midsize Pilot is equipped with a single engine choice, a capable 285 hp V6 engine. Drivers will find this is plenty of power when it comes to recreational towing, be it a small camper, boat, or trailer. The Pilot can tow upwards of 5,000 lbs with no problem.

Plenty of careful planning and thought went into the overall design of the Pilot to pair a sleek body with first-class handling for a balanced drive that is both rewarding and exhilarating. An independently tuned suspension gives you increased control when heading over uneven terrain, be it a muddy lane or rocky ground.

The engine and advanced suspension are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that helps cut down on noise and vibrations for a quiet, peaceful cabin that helps you relax and focus on the road. Drivers can get standard front-wheel drive or opt for available i-VTM4 all-wheel drive. This advanced system ensures that if one wheel falters, the others pick up the slack to ensure you stay in control when facing slippery, snowy, or challenging road conditions.

Off-Road Potential

Depending on the trim and powertrain, drivers can get up to seven different drive modes to select from to tailor their 2025 Pilot’s performance to the terrain. Drive modes include:

  • Econ: For better fuel economy.
  • Normal: For casual driving around town.
  • Sport: For quicker throttle response and a little extra pep.
  • Snow: It's now easier to tackle snowy, slippery weather with the turn of a dial.
  • Trail: Tackle the campground trails at the local state park with ease.
  • Sand: Whether it’s a sandy lane, the beach dunes, or the desert, Sand mode optimizes your Pilot’s performance on tricky shifting sands.
  • Tow: Hitch up and go with Tow Mode!

Hill Descent Control is another feature that helps ease tension off your gears and keeps you from picking up speed on the way down. The system makes it easier to descend along steep or sloping surfaces back to even ground.

It’s no secret the Pilot is an adventure seeker and is built to take on whatever Mother Nature has in store. To prove it, the 2025 Pilot features two available systems––Trail Mode and TrailWatch––that work together to make getting into nature safer and easier than ever. Activate Trail Mode to engage TrailWatch, which offers a real-time picture on your cabin’s display screen so you can view terrain and keep an eye on what’s ahead.

Keep in mind, if you want to take things a step further, opt for the Pilot TrailSport to really experience the SUV’s full performance and off-roading potential. The TrailSport is a mid-level trim that is designed to get you off the beaten path. It features an off-road-tuned suspension, TrailWatch, and steel skid plates to keep the undercarriage protected.

Comfort & Convenience

The Pilot is all about putting control into the hands of the driver for a custom experience that meets their needs and preferences. This is apparent in the new trim lineup, which features six different options. This allows drivers to pick between aggressive off-roaders, just the essentials, or advanced upscale luxury and all the bells and whistles.

While the entry-level Sport starts at $39,900 and has a fully loaded cabin with balanced driving, drivers can upgrade to the EX-L for further comfort, like leather seating or the convenience of a power tailgate.[a] The mid-level TrailSport is equipped for the road less taken, and the Touring trim goes further to enhance your drive with features like a satellite navigation system, a hands-free power liftgate, and a Bose stereo system.

The Elite trim takes us into luxury territory with heated and ventilated seating, an enlarged driver infotainment screen, and even second-row heated seats to take the edge off of early morning starts or chilly autumn afternoons. Normally, the Pilot family would end there, but this year, get ready for a new addition. The dark horse of the Pilot lineup is the Black Edition, which tops out the trim lineup at $54,280.[a] Enjoy glossy black styling inside and out, as well as an advanced all-wheel drive system for controlled performance. Get exclusive red trim in the cabin plus red accent lighting for a completely unique experience that is unlike any other Pilot trim.

Modern Design Features

The modern design of the 2025 Pilot features Honda’s trademark hexagon grille and a modern athletic build perfect for taking the kids to soccer or exploring off the beaten path. On the inside, the cabin offers a balance of impressive cargo, smart storage, and lots of comfort.

The second row has a third seat that can be stowed away when not in use or pulled out if you happen to get a surprise passenger in need of a lift. The flexibility of seating up to eight passengers gives drivers plenty of wiggle room to meet the demands of their day. Furthermore, the 2025 Pilot has 111.8 cu.ft. of max cargo room behind the first-row seats. The wide power liftgate makes it easy to secure cargo or unload without straining. Upgrade to the Hands-Free Access Power Liftgate for additional convenience.

Additional smart storage was placed throughout the cabin to make full use of the Pilot's airy interior. Drivers will appreciate the extra trays located on the center console and along the dash that keep essentials organized, your phone or even tablet on hand, and your coffee cup in place. An additional compartment in the trunk floor makes room for valuables, first aid kids, or a roadside emergency box.

An Automotive Overachiever

The 2025 Honda Pilot is nothing if not an overachiever, and that’s a great thing for busy families and solo adventurers. The addition of roof rails allows you to take advantage of the Pilot’s total cargo space. Add rails and crossbars to load up your bikes, kayak, or ski equipment and go! The Pilot ensures whatever you need, you’ve got it.

To further customize your interior, drivers can opt for second-row captain chairs that give passengers an extra-plush riding experience. The addition of One-Touch second-row seating means quick and easy access to the third row without the extra help of a parent.

The Pilot can be had with the essentials, but if you want the bells and whistles, you can upgrade with features like a panoramic moonroof, tri-zone climate control, and heated and ventilated seating. However you drive, the Pilot is happy to accommodate you.

Tech & Safety

Advanced Connectivity Features

The Pilot is fully loaded with the most advanced technology Honda has to offer. Looking for available wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay to streamline your experience? No problem! Sync your smartphone to enjoy your favorite music, audiobooks, and podcasts so you get the most from your time behind the wheel.

The standard seven-inch or available nine-inch digital touchscreen features colorful and clear menus that make using the Pilot’s infotainment system intuitive, even if you’re not the most tech-savvy. Drivers can upgrade to Honda’s Satellite-Linked Navigation System to get real-time directions displayed on their touchscreen, creating a stress-free drive when you're navigating unfamiliar roads.

Is there a Wi-Fi hotspot? You bet there is! Whether your passengers want to stream videos or you want some fresh tunes, it's easy to stay in the loop when you connect with the available Wi-Fi hotspot. Support up to seven devices at a time, whether it's tablets, laptops, or phones. And wireless charging? No problem! Available wireless charging lets you set your compatible smartphone on the charging pad and hit the road; no more searching for wires and cables!

Smart and Safe

The Honda Pilot isn’t just smart but also safe. The multi-view camera system helps you keep tabs on what is going on around you, bumper to bumper and side to side. Whether you’re in the middle of gridlock traffic or dealing with a busy parking lot, it's always useful to have an extra set of eyes.

The 2025 Pilot is equipped with a Blind Spot Information System and Cross Traffic Monitor, which detect vehicles in your blind spots and alert you to approaching vehicles when you are in reverse to ensure you stay on top of changing traffic conditions without stressing.

These features are in addition to the Honda Sensing safety suite that has kept Honda drivers safe for a decade. This suite of safety features and driver assistance technology is composed of a Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System, and Traffic Sign Recognition System. Unlike many other models, all of these features are standard in the 2025 Pilot.
